Damn Good Buttery GF Biscuits

Butter I'll keep this intro short & sweet because these biscuits are SO delish, and so I encourage you to stop reading and run to your kitchen to make these bad boyz... like seriously run.

Whether or not you are Gluten Free, these biscuits are true winners. Trust me, I LOVE gluten (duh Timantha wouldn't be alive without the gluten-filled flour that fuels her)... but these are true biscuit winners in my book.

If you're in the market for Gluten Free Flour, check out the Cup4Cup All Purpose Flour I used to make these. This is absolutely my fav GF flour and it can be found online and in stores at a ton of different places!

  • 6 T Unsalted Butter + 2T Unsalted Butter

  • 2 cups Gluten-Free Flour (Cup 4 Cup Brand is my favorite!) *

  • 1 T Baking Powder

  • 1 t Salt

  • 2 T Granulated Sugar

  • ½ cup Greek Yogurt + ½ cup Water**

  • 1 Large Egg (room temp)

  • Maldon Salt


  1. Using a large-hole cheese grater, grate 6 T of unsalted butter and place in the freezer for at least 10 minutes.

  2. Preheat Oven to 450 degrees.

  3. In a large bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.

  4. Using your hands if you're not afraid of a mess (or pastry cutter if you want to stay clean), mix in your butter to the flour mixture until it has a pea-like texture.

  5. Into the dough, whisk in ½ cup water, ½ greek yogurt*, and 1 egg with a rubber spatula until a soft & sticky dough forms. Don’t over mix the dough, or biscuits will be tough

  6. On a hard surface, sprinkle a cutting board with flour and plop dough down. Then, sprinkle the dough with another dash of flour. Fold the dough in half, press down, rotate 90 degrees, then repeat the folding process 3 more times. This creates the extra layers.

  7. Using a sharp knife, cut the dough into 2-in squares. Place on a parchment lined baking sheet.

  8. Slice the remaining 2 T of butter into 12 equal-sized pieces, then place one piece on top of each biscuit. Sprinkle with Maldon Sea Salt and place in the oven.

  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown on the bottoms and slightly golden on top.

  10. Let them cool for a few minutes, and then enjoy.. add some more butter on top if you want some extra comforting biscuits!


These Biscuits are delicious served with butter + flakey salt, honey butter, your fav jam, nutella or even some gravy… talk about YUM!!

* You can substitute All Purpose Flour, but the texture will be slightly different than with the GF Cup4Cup Flour.

** No greek yogurt? No problem! Substitute 1 cup of butter milk or 1 cup of milk + 2 tsp vinegar
