Cookies & Cream Puppy Chow


Your favorite puppy chow // muddy buddies, but with the addition of oreos & freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. Inspired by the isolation cabin adventures in Parent Trap... fitting for the times? I think so.


Honestly, peanut butter and oreos are the perfect combo of comforting goodness.


The sweet n' salty combination here is incredibly addicting and SO easy to make that there is no reason why you shouldn't hurry up and make this recipe already. Okay maybe there are a few reasons like a nut or gluten allergy, but we have a work around that...


  • Gluten Free: use rice or corn chex, gf pretzels, and your fav gf cookie crumbles

  • Nut Allergy: sub sunbutter & your fav allergy-friendly cookies (check out Partake: a Black owned allergy-friendly cookie company!)

  • Dairy Free & Vegan : use vegan butter & DF chocolate chips (oreos are vegan!)

I prefer to use peanut butter with only salt + peanuts in the ingredients because I find that this recipe can become too-sweet pretty fast when using nut butters with added sugar. Ingredients:

  • 1.5 cups chocolate chips

  • 1/2 cup salted butter (1 stick)

  • 1 cup peanut butter (heaping cup!)

  • 2 tsp vanilla

  • 10 cups chex cereal

  • 2 cups pretzels, slightly crushed

  • 1 cup cookies, slightly crushed (oreos, chocolate chip cookies)

  • 1.5-2 cups powdered sugar


Method:

  1. In a microwave safe bowl, add chocolate chips, butter, peanut butter, and vanilla. Heat the mixture 30 seconds at a time, stirring each time to prevent burnt chocolate until fully melted.

  2. Dump chex cereal, lightly-crushed pretzels, and crushed cookies into a LARGE bowl.

  3. Next, Pour your peanut butter chocolate mixture on top of the cereal/pretzels and fold everything together until evenly coated.

  4. Transfer to a sealable bag or tupperware, pour ~1.5-2 cups of powdered sugar on top, and shake everything together until all the pieces are coated in a luscious dusting of powdered sugar... then devour!!
